  • I am a saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, songwriter and woodwind teacher based in Oakland, CA.  I spent my formative years in Denver, CO, where I first immersed myself in jazz through listening to three albums my father acquired in college: The Benny Goodman 1938 Carnegie Hall Concert, Ellington at Newport, and Masterpieces by Ellington. I started playing clarinet at age 9, alto sax at 13, and tenor sax at 14. I have performed professionally since 1992 in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to my own groups, the Tom Griesser 3 and B3B4 (a quartet with a Hammond B3 organist), I frequently perform with the Marcus Shelby Orchestra, the Cottontails and Brass Monkey Brass Band.
